Reelio · Video editor for Android
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 15 September 2026 · Package: com.malikoglu.reelio
Reelio (“the app”) is a video editor that works on your device. This policy explains what happens with your data when you use it.
Summary
- Reelio does not collect, sell or share your personal data.
- No account or sign-up is required.
- Your photos, videos, audio and projects are processed and stored on your device.
Permissions and why they are used
| Permission | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Photos and videos, music and audio | To show your media in the picker and add it to projects. Files are read on the device only. |
| Microphone | Only when you record a voiceover. The recording is saved in the app’s private storage. |
| Notifications | To show progress while a video is being exported. |
| Foreground service | To keep an export running when you leave the app or the screen turns off. |
| Internet | Only to download an optional speech-recognition model (see below). |
Speech-recognition model download
Auto captions use an open-source speech model (whisper.cpp, MIT license). When you generate captions for the first time, the app downloads the selected model file from huggingface.co. This is a plain file download: no audio, video, text or personal information is sent. Speech recognition itself runs entirely on your device. You can delete downloaded models in the captions panel.
Data you create
Projects, generated audio (text-to-speech, noise reduction), captions and exported videos are stored on your device. Exported videos are saved to the Movies/Reelio folder. Project backups (.reelio.zip) are saved only where you choose. Uninstalling the app removes its private data.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page with a new date.
